A former Governor of Lagos State and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives, Bola Tinubu, showered encomiums on his wife and legislator, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as she turned 62 on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Mrs. Tinubu was a dependable ally to her husband as the First Lady of Lagos State, as she offered him moral and emotional support to succeed at the helm of affairs in the country’s commercial nerve centre.
During her husband’s reign in office, she established the New Era Foundation, through which she championed the ‘all round development of young ones and promoted public awareness on environmental health and community service’.
The beautiful senator was eulogised by her husband, the All Progressive Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and some other prominent Nigerians.
In a post on social media, Tinubu thanked Remi for being a dependable ally. He wrote, “To my dearest Remi at 62. Birthdays are for celebrations, especially so for someone who has been the love of my life.
“At this time of the year, nothing else matters. Not even the demands of politics can suppress the rush of emotions I feel every time it’s your birthday.
“Dearest Oluremi, my Senator! I love and appreciate you each passing day. Recalling how we started fills me with gratitude; how you have stood by me unconditionally like the Rock of Gibraltar.
“Even when I had to be away, owing to exigencies, you efficiently managed the home front, nurturing the children with love and affection. Your love has always kept me going. Thank you for being a good mother. Our children and I thank you for your immense love.
“Your kindness to others and to humanity is legendary. My prayer for you on this day is that God Almighty continues to prosper and shower you with His infinite mercies and blessings. May He grant you many more years in good health.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, Babajide Sanwo-Olu described Tinubu as a philanthropist and advocate for social justice. The statement read in part, “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and the good people of Lagos State, I heartily congratulate the distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu on the occasion of her 62nd birthday.
“Over the years, you have written your name in gold as an advocate of social justice, a philanthropist and a voice of the voiceless. And through your pet projects, Spelling Bee and the New Era Foundation, you have become a reference point when it comes to the development of women and youths.
“You are a good ambassador of Lagos State and we are proud of your achievements in the Senate as one of the most active, visible, and vocal legislators in the Red Chamber.”
In a goodwill message, the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu, thanked the birthday girl for being an inspiration and model to women. He wrote, “On behalf of my family and good people of Abia North Senatorial District, I felicitate Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her 62nd birthday anniversary.
“She is a source of inspiration and role model to the womenfolk; many of whom have continually benefitted from her benevolence.
“She is a woman of virtue, who is passionate about an ideal society. I applaud her giant strides in all facets of life.”
