South-West women group rallies for Tinubu in Ogun

Women drawn from the six South West states of Nigeria on Wednesday converged in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and held a one-million walk for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

The women under the aegis of Yoruba Women for Tinubu said they were representatives of women from Osun, Lagos, Ekiti, Oyo Ondo and Ogun States.

The group which began the walk from the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, ended it at the governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Speaking with newsmen, the National President of Yoruba Women for Tinubu, Busayo Toyo, said the walk was to show their support for the former Lagos State Governor in his aspiration for the office of the President.

Toyo said the rally was self-sponsored by the group as a way of making its position on the 2023 election known.

She said Yoruba women in Nigeria are determined to give their full support to Tinubu’s aspiration as a result of his antecedent in the country.

In her words, “this One-Million-Women Walk and sensitisation for our father; the real son of the soil, Bola Ahmed Tinubu features all Yoruba women from all parts of Nigeria and even from the diaspora to show our support and love for him.

“The reason for the massive turn up of the Yoruba women from Osun, Ekiti, Lagos and other states at the walk is as a result of our strong belief in him as a man who has, not just the people, but women, especially in mind.

“We believe his recognition for women in the country would go a long way to bring about women inclusiveness in policy formulation in the country if he wins the election and becomes the president of the country comes 2023.”

The Welfare Coordinator of the group, Araba Clara, said that she was very optimistic about the positive results of the coming election considering the turnout of women.
