After helping his side pick up a point during their Europa Conference League game against Sivasspor on Thursday, Slavia Prague captain, Tomáš Holeš, considered Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka as the side’s best player.
In the game played at the Yeni Sivas 4 Eylül Stadyumu in Sivas, Olayinka opened the scoring for the visitors with only four minutes into the game to silence the home crowds.
Just before the end of the first 45 minutes, Israel’s Dia Sabi’A drew level for Sivasspor, but Slavia held on to claim a crucial point in their first group match of the European campaign.
The Czech Republic defender, who was full of praise for the Nigeria international, insisted that the Super Eagles winger was the best player on the day for the former Czech champions.
“Peter Olayinka was our best player in this match,” Holeš told the media.
“He did a lot of work, scored a goal, and was unpleasant for the opponent. He created other situations. I congratulate him on that.”
With his goal, Olayinka becomes Slavia’s all-time top scorer in the European with 12 goals, going on par with the legendary Tomáš Došek.
Aside from his goal, Olayinka was also impressive, completing 83% of his passes while making four key passes.
In four years at Slavia, Olayinka has won four league titles and two Cup honours.
