Following the declaration of support by four National Assembly candidates of the party for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu, the Caretaker Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Osun State, Abdusalam Abiola, said the NNPP would not miss those who left.

Abiola also said the four candidates that declared support for Tinubu had colluded with the former state leadership of the party to work for the APC in the last July 16 governorship election.

Recall that four NNPP candidates; Clement Bamigbola, Osun Central; Bolaji Akinyode, Osun West Senatorial; Olalekan Fabayo and Oluwaseyi Ajayi of Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila, and Ijesa South Federal Constituencies respectively, had attributed their decision to dump the NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, for Tinubu to lack of transparency in the running of their party at the national level.

But speaking exclusively with Saturday PUNCH, Abiola said those that left were liabilities, insisting that the party was being reorganised for stronger impact in Osun State political space.

He said, “Those people collaborated with the erstwhile chairman to work for the political party they said they were moving into in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.”
