State governors, eminent personalities and other well-wishers on Thursday sent their condolences to the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on the death of his mother, Grace.
The death was confirmed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde, in a statement issued on Thursday.
“She died peacefully in her sleep early this (Thursday) morning. Mama was 90 years old,” the statement read.
Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, described the deceased as “a devoted Christian leader, supportive mother, confidant, and encourager” in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, titled “Fayemi commiserates with Akeredolu on her mother’s death.”
The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, also in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, prayed to God to comfort Akeredolu and the entire family on the loss of their matriarch.
Their Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, urged Akeredolu, the deceased’s family, friends, and entire people of Owo and Ondo State to preserve the legacy of love and prayers left behind by the deceased.
Former Ondo State Governor and Akeredolu’s predecessor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, Mr John Akinduro, described the deceased as one who devoted her time to the service of God and humanity.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin, in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Alex Kalejaiye, said, “It is gratifying to note that mama devoted quality time building the children in their formative years, who grew to be successful in different human endeavours. They were sources of joy to her while she was around.”
The lawmaker representing Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, also mourned the deceased.
