Super Eagles striker, Peter Olayinka, will be aiming to become Slavia Prague’s all-time scorer in European competitions, when he leads The Slavists out against Ballkani in their Europa Conference League match-day two encounter at the Eden Arena on Thursday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Olayinka became Slavia Prague’s joint top scorer in Europe after scoring a fourth minute goal – his 12th – to earn his side a 1-1 draw at Sivasspor last Thursday on match-day one.

His strike sees him equal Tomas Dosek’s tally of 12 goals.

The Nigeria international is also Slavia Prague’s most capped player in European Cup games, with the game against Sivasspor his 50th for the Red-Whites in Europe.

Olayinka has scored three goals in nine games so far this season in all competitions for Slavia Prague, who are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, winning five matches.

Speaking ahead of the game, the former Gent striker said, “I think we were a little bit unlucky against Sivasspor.

“We fought hard till the end and everyone put in 100 per cent, even more. It was the first game and a win could have boosted our confidence a lot more, but now we know we have a lot of work to do as it is not an easy group for us. We need to focus on the next game at home to Ballkani.”

The Slavists come into the game having defeated Ceske Budejovice 6-1 in a league game on Sunday. Stanislav Tecl’s first-half brace inspired the hosts to a 3-0 halftime lead, while David Jurasek contributed a hat-trick of assists.

Ballkani, on their part, started their campaign in the Europa Conference League competition with a 1-1 draw against CFR Cluj on match-day one. Yuri Matias scored a late equaliser.

They followed up with a 2-0 defeat to Drita in the Kosovan Superliga on Sunday. Marko Simonovski and Besnik Krasniqi scored in either half to inspire the visitors to victory.

Olayinka’s countryman, Moses Usor, is expected to feature in the game while Yira Sor will miss the game due to fitness issues just as Jan Boril, Eduardo Santos, Jakub Hromada, Tomas Holes, David Hovorka, Petr Sevcik and Ibrahim Traore have all been sidelined by injury.
