The Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State has appointed the immediate past chairman of its Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, to head the state Presidential Campaign Council.
The PUNCH reported that Jibrin, a Second Republic Senator, resigned from his position as the party’s BoT chairman, saying the decision was made to ensure that the party’s presidential candidate emerged victorious in the 2023 elections.
Despite the resignation, the former BoT chairman noted in a statement in Kaduna on Friday that he remained a life member of the BoT of the party.
According to Jibrin, he had worked in all the organs of the party since 1998 at the formation of the party and will continue to contribute to the party base in his experience until the party’s presidential flag bearer, “Atiku Abubakar, win the 2023 election”.
This was as he urged party members and Nigerians to work for the success of the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 presidential race.
Jibrin was also full of appreciation to the Nasarawa State chapter of the party for giving him the opportunity to serve in the party.
“For appointing me the chairman of Nasarawa State Presidential Campaign Council, I want to sincerely thank the state PDP chairman and his entire executive members, the elders, the caucus, and the entire PDP members in the state for giving me this very important assignment just after I resigned as the BoT chairman to protect and strengthen the party.
“I have been a true party man right from the unit, ward, local government, zonal and state where I served as party leader,” he added.
