Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has described the election of the Chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, as 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation as a befitting recognition of his years of commitment and dedication to the development of Nigerian football.
The Governor stated this Wednesday, when he received Anyansi-Agwu at the Governor’s Lodge, Aba.
Anyansi-Agwu, who had previously served as a member of the NFF’s Executive Committee, was last Friday elected into the second highest office of Nigerian football at the NFF’s congress in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Ikpeazu said, “I was very happy when I heard the news and I want to say clearly that it is a well deserved recognition of your years of dedication to the development of football, especially in Abia State through Enyimba FC.
“On behalf of the good people of Abia State, I congratulate you and also want to assure you and the new NFF board of our constant support.
“Nigerians are religious about football and everybody wants to see you succeed, so I wish you and the new board the very best as you work towards returning Nigerian football to where it belongs.
“I also want to use this opportunity to reassure you that Enyimba remains very dear to my heart and my government is willing to do everything within its power to ensure that you return to play continental football because that is what the club is known for.”
In his response, Anyansi-Agwu commended the Governor for his commitment to the progress of Abia State and its people.
“I want to sincerely thank you, Your Excellency, for all the good work that you have been doing in the state. This achievement would not have been possible without the platform that you gave me, that is why I want to dedicate it to you and to the good people of Abia State.”
