A forum of Abuja-based critical stakeholders from Gombe South, particularly Kaltungo and Shongom Local Government Areas have unanimously resolved to work against the ruling All Progressives Congress in Gombe State.

The Forum also agreed to support candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Our Correspondent reports that the Forum comprised of sons and daughters of Tangale/Waja mainly Technocrats, Bureaucrats and Theocrats, businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, and private individuals.

According to a press statement signed by Dr. Lamela Silas on behalf of Kaltungo-Shongom Critical Stakeholders after its meeting, the Forum expressed its resolve to elect reliable and capable leaders in the upcoming general election in Gombe State, stressing that it firmly believes in good governance and the benefits, resolved to work together to rescue the state from the APC-led government in 2023.

The statement partly read, “We took our time to critically examine the political atmosphere and discussed the strategies to adopt towards ensuring that the PDP wins the coming elections given the confidence of our people in the new bride.

“We, the Critical Stakeholders, (sons and daughters of Gombe South extraction and Kaltungo –Shongom in particular) of Tangale Waja, accepted to convene this meeting today 22nd September 2022 at Abuja with a view to particularly rethink 2023 and reposition both ourselves and our people towards the 2023 elections and beyond. The Forum, first of all, admitted that as architects of our people’s political fortune and natural leaders, we should take responsibility to sharpen and give shape to the political future of our people through a process of strategic thinking, appropriate guidance and leadership.”

While lamenting the challenges of the current administration, the group noted it is surmountable with concerted efforts.

“The Forum acknowledged the power of incumbency and therefore elaborately discussed the strategies to topple especially that the good people of Gombe are wearied.

“We resolved that the challenge is not insurmountable and that we not only can but shall, for we cannot afford to disappoint the hopeful people of Kaltungo- Shongom, Tangale/Waja and indeed Gombe State who look up to us to salvage them from the visionless and clueless governance style of the APC-led administration. It was resolved that the abysmal failure of the present administration should not be condoned and therefore call on all to reject them at the polls come 2023. Several discussions around the table elaborately focused on how to assist the PDP win election come 2023. The Forum was affirmative about the willingness, readiness and ability to deploy all what it will take to wrestle power from the APC-led government in Gombe state. Yes we can, the Forum affirmed and shall, God willing,” the Forum added.

They expressed commitment to work for all the candidates fielded by the PDP from president down to the state assemblies while calling on residents to be law-abiding, the Forum said, “We in this Forum, expressed satisfaction in the candidates that emerged in the last primaries and therefore consider them as viable alternative.

“The Forum expressed how exceptionally pained the people of Gombe are by the horror and intimidating leadership style of the current administration hurled on the innocent and faithful citizens of Gombe State in general and Gombe South in particular. The desperation, insensitivity and mindless leadership style which resonate in the person of the incumbent government in power manifested itself in many ways several of which are in public domain including the recent demolition of a campaign office of the gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP in Gombe town.

“We observed with utter disgust the desperation with which they perpetually want to cling to power, and the machinery they resorted to achieve that. This, we sadly observed, has severely polarized the state along ethnic, religious and tribal divide, and therefore condemnable and unacceptable. We call on the good people of the state to remain law-abiding, peaceful and keep abreast with unfolding development.”
