Algeria friendly: Awaziem arrives camp, others expected today

Ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Algeria next Tuesday, The PUNCH learnt that Hadjut Split defender Chidozie Awaziem was the first player to hit the Super Eagles hotel camp in Constantine after he joined up with the team’s backroom staff in Turkey.
The Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji confirmed to our correspondent.
Meanwhile, other invited players and coach Jose Peseiro are expected to arrive the Eagles camp in Constantine on Tuesday (today).
Our correspondent learned that the players and coach Peseiro would fly into Constantine from Paris.
The players expected to arrive the Eagles camp today are Kenneth Omeruo, Calvin Bassey, Cyriel Dessers, Kevin Akpoguma, Maduka Okoye, Moses Simon and Sanusi Zaidu.
Also, Valentine Ozonwarfor, Chidera Ejuke, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Terem Moffi are all expected to hit the camp ahead of the fixture in Oran.
Goalkeepers, Francis Uzoho, Adeleye Adebayo – defenders Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong and the quartet Emmanuel Dennis, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman are other players expected in camp later today.
It was also gathered that training will begin on Tuesday (today) evening.
Peseiro released a provisional list of 25 players last Saturday with team captain Ahmed Musa, who was among the invited player, now unavailable for the encounter following his injury.
Musa fractured his arm in his first start for Sivasspor who 2-1 loss to Ankaragucu on Sunday and was replaced after 19th minutes by Clinton N’Jie.
The Eagles aim for their third win under Portuguese Peseiro after victories over Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in June and their 10th over Algeria.
The game billed for the Miloud-Hadefi Olympic Stadium in Oran will be the 22nd meeting since January 10, 1973, with the Eagles recording nine wins, three draws and nine defeats.
Three-time African champions Nigeria and two-time African champions Algeria clash at the 40,000 Stade Olympique in Oran next Tuesday.
