Again, Dare emerges Zamfara PDP gov candidate

The fresh governorship primary conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State has again produced Dauda Dare as the winner.

The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, the state capital, has annulled the election of Dare, following a case filed by Ibrahim Shehu and two others, challenging the credibility of the election. The court ordered a fresh election.

The election was conducted on Friday amid security where Dare was declared the winner having scored the highest votes of 422.

His rivals, Shehu and Hafiz Mohammed got one vote each, while the other gubernatorial candidate, Wadatau Madawaki, withdrew from the contest. There were also four invalid votes.

Announcing the election result, the secretary of the committee sent by the national headquarters of the party to conduct the election, Abubakar Sadiq, said, “Having scored the highest votes of 422, I hereby declare Dr Dare as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for 2023 general elections.”
